Austin-based crews who know the venues, the timelines, and the difference between capturing your brand's SXSW moment and just showing up with a camera. Multi-cam activation coverage, same-day social cutdowns, executive interviews, and post-event recap films built for the way brands actually use SXSW footage after the badges come off.
Austin-based SXSW videographer for brand activations, product launches, hospitality suites, panel sponsorships, and off-site events during SXSW 2027 (March 12 to 22). We guide your team through SXSW's Event Recording & Licensing (ERL) process (the brand submits, we prep the crew info and handle day-of coordination), staff the shoot with local crew, and deliver same-day social cutdowns plus a post-event recap film. Book by early January to lock a crew.
Every March, Austin turns into a nine-day sprint where 300,000+ people are trying to see, taste, or hear something worth the flight. The brands who show up spend real money on the activation. Most of them capture it with a phone. Then six weeks later, marketing asks for the recap film and there's nothing usable.
We work with brand marketers, agency producers, and comms leads at companies running SXSW activations, product launches, hospitality suites, private parties, panel sponsorships, and off-site events. The job is straightforward: capture your SXSW moment in a way that survives past the week, then cut it into a toolkit your team can actually deploy across social, sales, and next year's pre-registration campaign.
Downtown Austin during SXSW is not a place to learn logistics on the fly. Local crews already know the load-in on Rainey Street, how long the walk from a hospitality suite to a downtown activation actually takes at 4pm on a Wednesday, which venues will let you set up lighting and which will not, and where the good coffee is at 6am when call time is early. We are based in Austin year-round. Our crews are not fly-in freelancers paying triple during festival week.
SXSW runs an Event Recording & Licensing (ERL) program that credentials brand-side crews to film inside their own activations, panel sponsorships, and licensed spaces. It has its own application process, crew credentials picked up in-person at the Registration Annex, and rules for what can and cannot be captured on the ground. We know that process. The ERL application is submitted by your brand (SXSW requires the activation host to be the applicant), but we prep it with you: crew list, roles, activation details, dates, and the shot plan that supports the request. Day-of, we coordinate credential pickup for every operator and brief your team on what is captureable inside your activation versus what needs additional coordination with SXSW's comms team. Brands who fly in without knowing the process show up at load-in and find out their B-roll operator cannot get past the badge check. We plan for it in November, not the morning of.
SXSW 2027 runs March 12 to 22 in downtown Austin. Local video crews and audio talent book out by mid-January. If you're planning a March activation, the honest deadline for locking a full crew (multi-cam operator, sound, producer, editor for same-day cuts) is early January. We open the SXSW 2027 calendar in November 2026. Half of it fills within four weeks of opening.
A SXSW capture that lives past the flight home. Same-day cutdowns your team is posting while the activation is still open. A recap film your CMO can send to leadership without apologizing for the shakiness. B-roll and interview footage your marketing team can pull from for the next 12 months of campaigns, sales decks, and next year's pre-registration push. If you're planning a SXSW moment and want a direct read on scope and crew, the next step is a 15-minute strategy call.
Multi-day documentary capture of a defense-tech hackathon with same-week social cutdowns. The same production model that works during SXSW: high-volume capture, tight turnaround, story-first cut.

ExploreThe three most common scopes we see: (1) A single-day activation capture with one operator and same-day social cutdowns, right for one hero moment inside a larger brand week. (2) A full-day multi-cam shoot with sound, a producer, and an on-site editor, right for a launch or a hospitality day where the brand needs both live social and a post-event recap. (3) A multi-day SXSW week package covering activations, panels, private parties, and an end-of-week recap film, right for brands treating SXSW as a marquee moment with 12 months of downstream content usage. Scope depends on how many touchpoints your brand has during the week and how much of the footage needs to work past the festival.
For SXSW 2027 (March 12 to 22, 2027), lock your videographer by early January 2027 at the latest. Austin crews book out earlier than most brand teams expect because the same 40 to 50 experienced videographers, sound operators, and producers get pulled by every activation in town. If your March activation depends on same-day social cutdowns or multi-cam coverage, treat January 15 as the hard deadline, not a stretch target.
The ERL credential is what lets a brand-side crew film inside your own activation, panel sponsorship, or licensed space during SXSW week. SXSW requires the activation host (your brand) to submit the ERL application directly, but we prep it with you: crew list, roles, activation details, dates, and the shot plan the application needs. Day-of, we coordinate credential pickup for every operator (each pulls their own credential at the Registration Annex with photo ID) and brief your team on what is captureable inside your activation versus what needs additional coordination with SXSW's comms team. If your activation also intersects official festival programming (a sponsored panel, a music showcase, a screening), we walk you through those specific rules so nothing gets flagged at the door.
Yes, with a dedicated on-site editor. Standard same-day workflow: shoot from 10am to 4pm, on-site editor cuts a vertical 15- to 30-second social edit by 6pm, a horizontal LinkedIn edit by 8pm, both delivered to your social team for posting before the day ends. For multi-day activations we typically pair one editor per shoot day, with a lead editor handling the recap film after wrap. Budget the editor as a separate line item because same-day turnaround requires on-site color, sound, and captioning work that a next-week edit does not.
Yes for brand-side coverage at both. SXSW EDU (typically the week before the main conference) is where edtech companies, universities, and mission-driven education brands run activations and panel sponsorships. SXSW Film & TV overlaps with the main festival and attracts studio and streaming-platform activations. Same restrictions apply: we film your brand's activation, party, panel sponsorship, or press event, not the official screenings or panel programming that requires SXSW press credentials.
Everywhere brand activations show up: downtown Austin (2nd Street district, Rainey Street, East 6th, the Convention Center perimeter), East Austin (the warehouse activations off 5th and 6th East, the hospitality suites in East Austin hotels), and the off-site party circuit around South Congress and Bouldin. We know which venues will approve a lighting kit, which venues run tight on power, and which venues want a certificate of insurance before load-in.
