Beside It Swim Decks creates inflatable swim decks that attach to pontoon boats, making it easier and safer to get in and out of the water. We partnered with their team to concept, cast, and produce a lifestyle film that demonstrated the product without ever feeling like a demo — by showing it inside a real day on the water, not staged on a stand.

Project Overview

This project involved producing a lifestyle product video for Beside It Swim Decks, focused on introducing their inflatable swim deck system to pontoon boat owners. StoryChef Media handled the project end-to-end, including:

The primary goal was to show how the product works in real life — not just explain it.

The Challenge

Beside It Swim Decks solves a simple but meaningful problem: getting in and out of the water from a pontoon boat isn't always easy — especially for kids, older adults, or anyone with mobility concerns.

The challenge was to communicate that benefit clearly without turning the video into a technical demo or an infomercial. The product needed to feel intuitive, fun, and immediately useful — the kind of thing you'd add to your boat without overthinking it.

Strategy & Creative Approach

The strategy was to lead with experience, not features. Rather than starting with specs or assembly steps, the concept focused on a relaxed day on the water — using the swim deck naturally as part of the experience. The product becomes obvious through use, not explanation.

By casting talent that reflected real pontoon owners and shooting in a genuine lake environment, the film positions the swim deck as an easy upgrade that enhances time on the water rather than complicating it.

Production & Execution

Production included on-location filming with hired talent, capturing real interactions with the product in a lifestyle setting. The shoot emphasized:

Every shot was designed to answer the viewer's unspoken question: Would this actually make my time on the lake better?

Post-Production & Storytelling

In post-production, the edit focused on flow and clarity. The pacing mirrors a laid-back lake day, while the structure ensures the product's value is unmistakable by the end of the film.

Music, visuals, and timing were all selected to support a sense of comfort and enjoyment — reinforcing the idea that the swim deck removes friction rather than adding it.
