Launch-phase brand assets for a new Austin energy company.

Base Power Company partnered with StoryChef Media to produce a Connected TV (CTV) ad and a series of customer testimonial videos for their first public launch into the Austin market. We built the initial launch assets — the work that introduced the brand, established early trust, and got the company off the ground in its home city. From there, Base Power's marketing team and partnerships drove the growth and scale that followed.

Project Overview

This project involved creating a CTV advertising spot and testimonial video series for Base Power Company's launch into the Austin market. The videos were designed to serve as initial brand assets — introducing the company to local audiences while reinforcing credibility through real customer experiences.

The campaign supported Base Power Company's first public-facing rollout in Austin across paid media, sales conversations, and early marketing efforts. The videos were the launch toolkit, not the growth engine — those assets gave the company a clear, credible first impression in its home city; their internal marketing team and partnerships took it from there.

The Challenge

For a new brand entering the market, clarity and trust are non-negotiable. Base Power Company needed to explain what they do and why it matters — quickly and clearly — without overwhelming viewers or relying on industry jargon.

In a CTV environment, the message had to land fast while still feeling grounded and credible. At the same time, the brand needed social proof to reduce hesitation and help potential customers feel confident engaging with a new company.

Strategy & Creative Approach

The strategy focused on simple messaging supported by real voices. The CTV ad was structured to introduce the core value proposition clearly and efficiently, while the testimonial videos reinforced that message through firsthand customer experiences.

Rather than overproducing the story, the creative approach emphasized clarity, reliability, and real-world outcomes. Together, the assets worked as a system — awareness paired with validation.

Production & Execution

Production included filming customer testimonials alongside the creation of a broadcast-ready CTV ad. Visuals were designed to feel polished and trustworthy, matching the expectations of television audiences while remaining approachable.

Each piece was intentionally built for flexibility, allowing the content to be reused and adapted as the company's marketing evolved.

Post-Production & Storytelling

In post-production, the edit focused on pacing and message discipline. Testimonials were shaped to feel natural and authentic, while the CTV ad was refined to communicate value quickly without sacrificing clarity.

The final videos strike a balance between professional polish and credibility — supporting both brand perception and performance goals.

Results & Impact

The campaign supported Base Power Company's first public launch in Austin and helped establish early trust with local audiences. The videos became the initial brand toolkit during the company's earliest growth phase — clear, credible, and usable across paid media, sales, and owned channels.

Since the launch, Base Power Company has scaled significantly and gone on to secure a $1B investment — a milestone driven by the company's product, leadership, internal marketing team, and broader partnerships. We're proud the initial launch assets were part of getting the brand off the ground in its home market; everything that came after is a credit to their team.

Why Launch-Stage Video Works

For early-stage and scaling companies, launch-phase video:

  • Establishes credibility before a long track record exists
  • Communicates value quickly in paid and owned channels
  • Creates assets that continue to compound as the business grows

Strong early storytelling sets the tone for everything that follows.
