5 Videos Your Company Needs for Internal Use

Creating a catalog of videos for internal use has several benefits. Using video for internal communication is fast, effective, and provides consistent messaging. To get started, your company needs these four videos in its internal communication catalog.

1. Talent Recruitment Videos

For companies that are growing rapidly, recruiters can spend a significant amount of time just communicating the company's values, culture, and job roles. One of our favorite projects was working with OpCity to develop a brand film and a series of recruitment videos. These videos are sent to recruited talent before their interview call which saves a significant amount of time per call.

2. New Hire Orientation Videos

Employee onboarding videos introduce new hires to the company's culture, values, and policies. Many companies include a welcome message from the CEO. In addition, new hire orientation videos may offer training, explain products, or describe employee benefits. Onboarding videos also can illustrate the role different departments play. Companies that have a large facility or campus may want to include a virtual tour to eliminate time-consuming physical tours.

3. New Product and Product Update Videos

The consistent messaging that new product and product update videos provide doesn't end with employees. Since all employees have become aware of the same product features or updates, your employees have accurate and consistent information to share with customers.

4. Training Videos

It's faster to train employees with video than other methods. Secondly, videos standardize procedures since they ensure every employee gets the same information. Also, it's more efficient to train with videos than with text. New processes are easier to understand when they're seen and heard. An advantage that videos have over live classes is employees can view the video again as necessary.

5. Company Meeting Videos

There are several reasons to record company meetings. Employees who aren't able to attend the meeting can find out what took place. Having recorded meetings in the company video catalog also supports transparency in the company culture. In the past, institutional memory was often lost as long-time employees retired or took other jobs. Recorded meetings eliminate that problem by archiving institutional knowledge. Videos of company meetings allow current employees to travel back in time to see how and why decisions were made.
